Emotion regulation is the ability to manage ones own behavior, balance and regulate arousal experienced daily, or in stressful situations, and return to a state of calm and relaxation. This ability is crucial for dealing with unpleasant emotions such as anxiety, sadness, or anger.
Typical strategies for managing negative arousal include mood stimulation, which increases dopamine levels, or various avoidance reactions. Frequent and/or intense use of inappropriate strategies can lead to addiction and emotional disorders.

Methodology:
The therapy uses the SELF-STARTING method, which views "problematic" behaviors as signs of excessive stress. This approach aims to improve mood, concentration, friendship-building skills, and empathy, which can be limited in naturally egocentric adolescents.
